Mads Kjeldgaard is a composer and artist from Denmark. His work explores concepts of presence and time, as well as the raw sensuality of sounds. In his performances and compositions, he draws on inspiration from Buddhism, poetry and alternative stand-up comedy to convey a sense of space and togetherness. He has worked extensively with generative music techniques as well as new technologies including sound programming, interactive installations, field recording and spatial audio – mostly using self-authored software and electronics systems.

He has studied Electronic Music Composition at the Danish Institute of Electronic Music (DIEM) at the Royal Academy of Music and has a degree in journalism from the Danish School of Media and Journalism. As a developer, he has worked a number of years at The Norwegian Center for Arts and Technology (aka Notam) and at Torso Electronics. He is the founder of the record label Exformal Records and the creative technology studio hyaline.systems and is a member of The Danish Composers’ Society. His work has been commissioned by NyMusikk, The Norwegian Centre for Technology and Art, The Ultima Contemporary Music Festival, Intonal Festival and Lemur Ensemble among others. In 2019 he won a gold award at the International Spatial Audio Conference.
